Chris Hildebrand began his teaching career in 2004, at the Shawnee Community College (Cairo, Illinois Extension Center) where he taught adults basic computer literacy. Later, after completing his graduate studies, he began teaching Freshman Composition and Humanities at Murray State University, as well as teaching for several semesters at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. While teaching at WKCTC, many of his students were adults committed to achieving personal goals through higher education, and he found great satisfaction teaching these individuals.
Later, when the opportunity presented itself, Chris began his Adult Education career with West Kentucky Educational Cooperative in September of 2016. He was the coordinator for the Ballard County Adult Education Learning Center in LaCenter, Kentucky. There, besides running the Learning Center, he also taught basic adult literacy to individuals working toward earning their GEDs.
In the Fall of 2018, the position of College and Career Navigator was created to guide adult students into career certification programs or post-secondary education programs that lead to meaningful employment. Chris accepted the challenge of assisting adults move into the next phase of their lives. “I like to quote Shakespeare when trying to motivate students and tell my students: 'The world is your oyster!'"
